Running for Bums is the brainchild of Jenna Brook, a local of Birdsville in Outback Australia. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Jenna has decided that running from the bottom of Tasmania to the tip of Cape York, covering in excess of 4,500km in between is a good idea. With the help and support of those around her, Jenna plans to complete the epic journey in around 4 months (give or take a week), and hopes to start a lot of conversations along the way.

So, where does ‘Running for Bums’ come from? Simple, Jenna is running for bums – for all bums – and to start a conversation about them. Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in Australia, and not enough people talk about it. With early detection, treatment of bowel cancer has a 90% success rate – so it is astounding that less than 40% are caught early enough. Jenna plans to talk about bowels, bums, poop and colonoscopies that much that people will literally be pushing her out of their towns saying ‘enough, enough – alright we’ll talk about it’! Only when every last family that she meets has had the conversation about their own history will she be content. Let’s talk about bums!
